Pink Argonaut Golf and Dive Event to empower local divers in Anilao

Recognizing the importance of preserving and safeguarding the diving sites in Anilao, Batangas, the Pink Argonauts have embarked on a mission to train more certified Dive Masters and Dive Guides from the local community.

However, many aspiring divers from the area face financial barriers hindering their ability to complete certification courses.

In response, the Pink Argonauts have conceived a novel initiative – a dual Golf and Dive Event scheduled for May 24-26, to be hosted at the Mount Malarayat Golf and Country Club and Aiyanar Beach and Dive Resort, respectively.

Proceeds from the Pink Argonauts’ event will be channeled towards financing the certification of local aspiring Dive Masters and Dive Guides in Anilao, Batangas, while fostering marine conservation efforts and nurturing the next generation of ocean advocates.

Comprising a coalition of divers, golfers, and conservationists, the Pink Argonauts (TPA) are dedicated to sharing their passion for sports while making meaningful contributions to the communities they serve.

Co-founded by Tessa Neri and Marivic Verdadero-Maramot, the core team includes Jocs Reyes, Brie Reyes, Arabelle Jimenez, Monch Henares, Joe Padua, Joyce Villarosa, and Marco Santos.

The “Zero to Hero Dive Master Program” offers a transformative journey from novice to certified Dive Master, intertwining diving skills with marine conservation principles. Participants not only acquire essential underwater exploration skills but also actively engage in conservation efforts, thus bolstering dive tourism initiatives.

Among the beneficiaries of the program, predominantly comprising boatmen residing in Mabini, Batangas, are individuals from modest backgrounds who successfully navigated a rigorous selection process.

A Scuba Diving event tailored for underwater photography enthusiasts will unfold across the pristine waters of Anilao, Batangas, renowned for its unparalleled marine biodiversity. An esteemed panel of judges, including Michael Aw, founder of Ocean Geographic, and legendary National Geographic underwater photographers David Doubilet and Jennifer Hayes, will oversee the Underwater Photo Shoot Out scheduled for May 28-26, 2024.

The inaugural Pink Argonauts Golf Tournament is co-presented by Aiyanar Beach and Dive Resort, Batangas Scuba Academy, Batangas Dive Association, and Pacifica Dive. Event collaborators include BuildMeUp Corp., Ocean Geographic, Scuba Studio, RedCrane Studios, and Play It Right, with Hatasu E-Bikes and Parikit Manila serving as Hole-In-One sponsors.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region IV-A, under the leadership of RD Maritess Castro, alongside the DOT Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO), headed by Dr. Katrin Buted, have extended their support to this three-day event. Torben Bohn of Pacifica Dive is also among the event’s key supporters.
