Palacios, known for her stunning beauty and warm smile, looked radiant in a white gown during a press conference held at Kao Manila, Newport World Resorts, Pasay City.

“Mabuhay Pilipinas! Mahal kita Pilipinas [I love you, Philippines],” Palacios exclaimed when asked about her first impressions. “Everything is beautiful, the people are amazing, so humble. I feel so grateful to be here. Thank you for your support and believing in me.”

The 23-year-old Miss Universe expressed her excitement about a planned motorcade in her honor.

“I’m so thankful to the Miss Universe Philippines organization for making this happen,” she said. “It’s time to celebrate because the victory I achieved isn’t just mine, it’s for all of us.”

Palacios, a mental health advocate and the first woman from Nicaragua to win Miss Universe, is seen as a symbol of hope and opposition to the current government in her home country. She has yet to return home for a victory celebration due to political tensions. Nicaraguan authorities reportedly denied entry to the director of the national beauty pageant.

Stephanie Yoe, Vice President for International Global Partnership of the Miss Universe Organization, also spoke at the event. “It’s a great opportunity for Miss Palacios to be here,” she said. “She represents the Miss Universe Organization, and I’m excited to announce that we’re expecting 120 countries to participate in this year’s pageant.”
