Man gets tattoo of takoyaki store logo following fake April Fools’ day promo

April Fool’s Day is the one time of the year where several practical jokes are usually tossed around the internet—be it simple pranks or incredibly elaborate shenanigans. While many aim to use the day as a way to put a smile on people’s faces, sometimes, jokes end up going too far.

One such example involves Taragis, a takoyaki store, which had released a fake April Fool’s Day post of a promo. According to the now-deleted post, they will be handing ₱100,000 to anyone who will be getting a tattoo of the store’s logo on their forehead.

While it was supposed to be a promotional joke, someone had actually gotten a tattoo of the Taragis logo on their forehead in the hopes of getting a cash prize. Upon learning of Ramil Albano, the commenter who took the joke seriously, the takoyaki store released a statement, which they had later deleted after receiving backlash.

“Our April Fools Day post was published earlier in the day. After that, we received a number of messages claiming that our post was executed and that someone had taken it seriously. Let this serve as a reminder to us all how important reading comprehension is. It’s April Fool’s Day. Never trust anything or anyone. The same as any other day,” its deleted statement read.

“Once more, Taragis Takoyaki is not accountable for the events that occurred,” it said further.

Many expressed their anger towards the statement with many claiming that the store should be held accountable for what had occurred while there were also some who said that the man was the one at fault.

Eventually, Taragis owner Carl Quion released a video where he had talked to Albano and gave him the reward as well as offered to pay to have the tattoo removed. Albano had shared that he took on the challenge because he needed the money for the needs of his children.

Quion issued an apology within the video and said that the whole situation should serve as a lesson to everyone on the internet to be responsible for the content they upload online.
