Speaker, House thank Pinoys for OCTA rating

Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Wednesday expressed sincere gratitude to the Filipino people for the high trust and performance ratings he received in a recent survey, saying it will serve only as further motivation for the House of Representatives to work harder to raise the standards of living in the country through legislation.

Romualdez’s trust rating in the recent OCTA Research 2023 fourth quarter survey conducted last Dec. 10 to 14 rose to 64 percent from its 60% mark in the October poll.

This was the highest increase among government officials included in the survey.

The Speaker’s performance ratings, meanwhile, also increased by four percent to 65% in the OCTA Q4 tally.

“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the Filipino people for the high trust and performance ratings we obtained in the latest OCTA Research survey conducted in December last year,” Romualdez said.

“Your trust and confidence in our work at the House of Representatives are truly humbling and inspiring,” the leader of the 310-member House of Representatives added.

While surveys serve as a gauge of public sentiment, he said they should “never be viewed as a reward for our hard work.”

“Instead, they serve as a reminder of the responsibility we bear as public servants to ensure that every action we take is in the best interest of the Filipino people,” he added.

Romualdez, president of the Lakas Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD), obtained the highest increase in trust ratings in the National Capital Region, from 48% in the last survey to a whopping 63%.

In other parts of Luzon, the House leader garnered an increase of 12%.

In the same survey, President Marcos continued to get high trust ratings with 76%, up three percent from the last survey. Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio and Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri bothj posted two-percent hikes in their trust ratings, at 77% and 59%, respectively.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo obtained a trust rating of 23%.

The performance ratings of the President, Vice President, Senate President, and Chief Justice, respectively, are as follows: 71%, 75%, 60%, and 18 %.

The OCTA Research survey had 1,200 respondents from ages 18 and up.

“The trust bestowed upon us by the public fuels our commitment to work tirelessly in crafting legislation that addresses the needs and concerns of our fellow Filipinos. It reaffirms our belief that our efforts are making a positive impact on the lives of our constituents,” Romualdez said.

“As we move forward, we remain steadfast in our dedication to serving the Filipino people with integrity, transparency and accountability.

We recognize that our ultimate goal is to enact policies and initiatives that will uplift the lives of every Filipino and contribute to the progress and development of our nation,” he added.

“Once again, I express my sincerest appreciation to the Filipino people for their unwavering support and trust. Rest assured that we will continue to work diligently to fulfill our mandate and deliver results that truly benefit our nation and its citizens.”
