AirAsia Philippines is confident that the travel industry will be supercharged this 2024, thanks to Gen Zs and Millennials’ strong preference for traveling with loved ones.

According to a recent international travel survey, nine out of 10 passengers ages 18 to 43 prefer to travel with loved ones to create more memorable experiences. This is supported by AirAsia Philippines’ figures for January, where Gen Zs account for 34 percent of total passengers, while Millennials make up 58 percent.

Furthermore, forward bookings for February, March, April, and May for island destinations like Boracay, Cebu, Bohol, and Puerto Princesa, and international destinations such as Taipei, Incheon, Osaka, and Narita have been increasing and have reached 700,000 seats as of Feb. 1.

Of all demographics who booked for these eight destinations, 14 percent are Gen Zs and 13 percent are Millennials.

“We are excited to welcome the young travelers, both Gen Zs and Millennials, as the travel profile diversifies. Our data shows that beaches remain a go-to destination, whether it’s for a quick romantic getaway or relaxation with family,” said AirAsia Head of Communications and Public Affairs and First Officer Steve Dailisan.

“Meanwhile, international destinations remain top bucket list destinations that excite and await travelers. We also invite everyone to watch out for our new summer campaign teased as ‘LFG’ as this will surely excite this generation’s young travelers and those young at heart as well,” Dailisan added.
