The House of Representatives overwhelmingly adopted Monday a resolution expressing its vigorous support to President Marcos and his “Bagong Pilipinas” program.
Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez said the expression of a message of unity with the President was unanimously agreed upon by leaders of political parties in the House in an all-majority party caucus on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, lawmakers lashed at Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, saying his call for the resignation of Mr. Marcos is “uncalled for, baseless, and worse, disrespectful.”
Deputy Speaker David Suarez expressed dismay over Duterte’s remarks, saying the mayor’s speech “I think is totally disrespectful of the man, given the position that he holds, and… has no basis whatsoever.”
