With new faces coming in, the Foton Chery Tiggo Crossovers will seek to improve on their fortunes this year in the 2020 Philippine Super Liga women’s volleyball season.
Veteran spiker Mylene Paat leads the six newcomers, who have been acquired by the team when they take on the challenges of the coming tournaments, starting with the 2020 PSL Grand Prix on Feb. 15.
The 5’10” Paat will bring forward to the Crossovers the experience and leadership that she gained playing for Cignal HD Spikers in the past.
The Crossovers, who changed their name from the Foton Tornadoes, are hoping to have a better finish this time after placing sixth the last time around.
“We fell short last season. And by adding players in our lineup, we hope to do better,” said Crossovers’ coach Aaron Velez.
Velez spoke of the team’s outlook during yesterday’s team presentation at the Ponce’s Restaurant in Quezon City.
Among the newbies joining Paat in suiting up for the Crossovers are Jasmine Nabor, Janine Navarro, Joy Dacoron, Rachel Austero, and Ria Duremdes.
The team is also expecting the return of the Santiago sisters, Jaja and Dindin Manabat, who are finishing their contracts with club teams in Japan.
Making up the rest of the squad are Shaya Adorador, Laizah Bendong, Marian Buitre, Justine Dorog, Elaine Kasilag, the Laure sisters Eya nd EJ, Maika Ortiz and Gyzelle Sy.
Last season, the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers won two of the three conference titles at stake, while the Petron Blazers topped the Grand Prix.
