Navotas bags multiple awards from different agencies

The City Government of Navotas bagged multiple awards from various agencies in recognition of its outstanding achievements in different categories.

Navotas received a commendation from the Department of the Interior and Local Government for its Community-based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP). It was one of the only two local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila to receive such recognition.

Since 2016, Navotas has been implementing Bidahan, a community-based drug rehabilitation program wherein people who use drugs (PWUDs) undergo a series of counseling sessions and routine testing.

The city was also recognized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development for being the Top 2 LGU with the highest percentage of improved nutritional status under the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP).

Ms. Karen Rose B. Damsani of the City Social Welfare and Development Office was also hailed as an Outstanding SFP Focal Person.

Navotas also obtained the Silver Seal of Protection from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) for its compliance with Republic Act No. 656 or the Property Insurance Law.

RA 656 highlights the importance of insuring government properties for expeditious repair or replacement in case of damage.

Navotas also received the Gawad Kalasag Seal of Excellence for 2023. The city was recognized as Beyond Compliant with the standards established for the functionality of local disaster risk reduction and management councils and offices, as prescribed in Republic Act No. 10121, also known as the Philippines Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.

Gawad Kalasag recognizes various stakeholders who promote and implement disaster risk reduction and management programs that protect high-risk communities against extremely hazardous situations and help them become more capable of addressing their vulnerabilities.

“These commendations attest to our dedication to delivering the best services for the benefit of Navoteños. We are grateful and honored that our efforts have been acknowledged. We will continue to use this recognition as inspiration to further improve the programs and services we deliver,” Mayor John Rey Tiangco said.
