BTS’ Jungkook dropped his highly anticipated debut solo album, Golden, on Friday, November 3. He also released a music video for the title track, “Standing Next to You.”
The music video showcases Jungkook’s dance skills, including some popping and locking moves.
Golden includes eight English tracks, including “Closer to You,” “Yes or No,” “Too Sad to Dance,” “Please Don’t Change,” “Somebody,” “Hate You,” “Shot Glass of Tears,” and his hit songs “Seven” and “3D.”
The album is inspired by Jungkook’s nickname, “the golden maknae” of the seven-member group. Maknae is the Korean word for youngest.
In a video released a few hours before the album’s release, the vocalist said the record’s motif.
“Including the lead track, ‘Standing Next to You,’ I filled the album with 11 songs of diverse genres,” he said in the footage distributed by his agency, BigHit Music. “You can feel the changing emotions if you listen to the entire album in order.”
Golden also features several high-profile collaborations including DJ Snake on “Please Don’t Change,” Major Lazer on “Closer to You,” Ed Sheeran on “Yes or No,” and Shawn Mendes on “Hate You.”
Jungkook will perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote his album.
