Trillanes to admin: Allow ICC probe on extrajudicial killings under Duterte

THE Magdalo group led by former senator Antonio Trillanes IV is urging the administration to allow the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the extrajudicial killings (EJKs) reported under the previous administration.

Trillanes also said former President Rodrigo Duterte should be held accountable for his “crimes against humanity.”

Trillanes made the call in the wake of Duterte’s recent public admission that he used his confidential and intelligence funds for EJKs in Davao City when he was still its mayor.

As original filers of the ICC case in 2017, the Magdalo group said it has witnessed and documented the “barbaric actions of the past administration and the trauma and hardships that thousands of victims and their families have suffered.”

“Truly, justice is long overdue,” the Magdalo group said in a statement.

Sought for comment, Senator Ronald Dela Rosa laughed off the Magdalo group’s call. Dela Rosa also said he was surprised Trillanes is “still around.”

Dela Rosa, who is a close ally of Duterte, said he did not watch the public admission of the former President.  However, he said Duterte was just fond of using “figure of speech.”
