Tubig Pilipinas Group Inc., a subsidiary of Pure Energy Holdings Corp., said it will pursue a 25-year bulk water supply project in Cebu after signing a contract with Metro Cebu Water District on Aug. 8, 2023.
The project will involve the creation of a water treatment plant and bulk supply pipeline, with a maximum volume reaching up to 50 million liters per day. Tubig Pilipinas will serve as the lead partner for the project, with Israel-based technology Water Matic International Philippines Inc. as the technical partner.
The total cost of the project will amount to nearly P2 billion.
“We are pleased that our sister company, Tubig Pilipinas, was again given an opportunity to expand our reach in Cebu for underserved communities in the area. The creation of a water treatment plant and bulk supply pipeline also represents an opportunity to create synergies in the area of hydropower in-line pipe turbine technology,” said Eric Roxas, president and chief executive of Repower Energy Development Corp. and a co-founder of Pure Energy.
“This is because renewable energy can be generated for this project and used in Tubig Pilipinas’s water treatment facilities,” he said.
“Tubig Pilipinas is aiming to improve the water situation in Cebu through the development of this project. We are happy to work on this new project with MCWD to uplift the lives of our Bisaya brothers in the region,” said Ryan Yapkianwee, president of Tubig Pilipinas.
Tubig Pilipinas is involved in the operation of bulk water supply and distribution, sewage and sanitation systems together with supplying water to unserved and underserved communities outside the Metro Manila area. It has 17 projects across the country.
