NDRRMC: 140 injured so far due to Egay, ‘habagat’

The number of injured persons due to the combined effects of Typhoon Egay and the southwest monsoon or habagat has climbed to 140, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Thursday.

In its latest situation report, the agency said the number includes 127 persons who were confirmed hurt — all from the Cordillera
Administrative Region (CAR).

Meanwhile, the remaining 13 are still undergoing validation — eight in Davao Region, two each from Western Visayas and Calabarzon and one in the Ilocos (Region 1).

The number of reported deaths remained at 27, with two confirmed and 25 still undergoing validation.

Meanwhile, 13 persons are reported missing and are all still undergoing confirmation as of this time.

Eight of the reported missing are from the CAR, four for Region 2 (Cagayan Valley), and one for Region 1. All these figures are subject to change pending validation or confirmation of these reports.

In the same NDRRMC update, 781,728 families were reported affected which is equivalent to 2,930,200 persons residing in 4,748 barangays
in 13 regions.

As of this time, there are 656 evacuation centers active and these are sheltering 15,552 families which is equivalent to 57,532 persons.

Meanwhile, another 57,153 families or 230,507 individuals are being aided outside.

The Office of Civil Defense earlier said that the affected families are a combination of those displaced and those not needing transfer or
removal from their residence.

The government has so far extended some PHP239.2 million worth of assistance to affected communities in 11 regions.

A total of 55,584 houses were also reported damaged in 12 regions.
