Police operatives have arrested a Filipino-Indian businessman for illegal possession of firearms and explosives following a raid at his home in Dasmarinas, Cavite.
Amith Chandiramani, 39, was arrested on Thursday afternoon by combined elements of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Special Action Force, and Cavite Provincial Police Office as part of the PNP’s Oplan “Paglalansag Omega.”
They executed two search warrants issued by Judge Charito M. Macalintal-Sawali of Regional Trial Court Branch 66 in Tanauan City, Batangas.
Recovered from the scene were one 9mm BCG Prosx pistol, one Colt M4 Carbine 5.56mm rifle, one Copolla TR-12 shotgun, one STI Duty One Cal. 40 pistol, one Glock 21 Gen 4 Cal .45 ACP Pistol, one Glock 43 9mm Pistol, one M26 fragmentation grenade, and various boxes of live ammunition for these weapons.
Chandiramani will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), CIDG sources told the Standard.
The Filipino-Indian was brought to the CIDG Southern DFU office for documentation and proper disposition. Jun David
