Sheryn Regis is going “all out” this pride month with a concert that marks her 20th year in the business.
Known for her powerful voice and captivating performances, Sheryn has made the decision to be true to herself and share her journey with the world. This courageous step reflects her commitment to living an honest and genuine life, embracing her own identity, and embracing the freedom that comes with self-acceptance.
“In the concert, I’m going to share a lot of things with the audience – things that I’m going to share for the first time,” Sheryn, who came out as lesbian in 2021, told the press in a recent media conference for the concert aptly called All Out.
By coming out and sharing her personal truth, Sheryn has become an inspiration for others who may be going through a similar journey. Her openness and vulnerability create a safe space for individuals to express their own authenticity and find the strength to be true to themselves.
“That’s what I really wanted to do, I want to inspire others not to come out of the closet – everyone has his or her own timing – but to celebrate their personal truth,” she explained.
A gifted soprano and a singer-songwriter often acclaimed for her range and technical ability, Sheryn first appeared in Philippine television’s longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga on its “Sing it Bulaga” segment back in 2002 where she became a winner.
In 2005, she secured a place as a grand finalist in ABS-CBN’S reality singing competition Star in a Million after advancing from the elimination rounds. Dubbed the “Power Belter,” she was the judges’ favorite and laced consistently in the top performances every week, eventually reaching the Grand Champion Night on January 3, 2004. She won the Texter’s Choice Award but placed only as a runner-up after singing Wendy Moten’s “Come On in Out of the Rain”, which eventually became her signature song.
While she may not have clinched the grand title in the competition, Sheryn felt like she already has, as she was immediately inundated with numerous TV offers, product commercial endorsements, and concerts in the Philippines and in different parts of the world.
To date, she has recorded five solo albums Come In Out of the Rain, What I Do Best, The Modern Jukebox Collection, Starting Over Again, and SHE with Platinum and Gold Awards, as well as numerous collaborations with different Filipino artists.
Sheryn had her first concert, Higher Note, at the Music Museum, followed by several concerts in the Philippines and abroad. However, in 2010, as part of her career move, she migrated to the United States with her family and settled in Houston, Texas, where she continues her colorful singing career, as a concert regular and a theatre actress.
This year, Sheryn celebrates her 20th anniversary in the music industry performing her greatest hits live in a concert series in the Philippines, Canada, and USA. Featuring the songs that she sang from teleserye songs, songs from her five studio albums under Star Records and Star Music, and the songs that she sang in Star in a Million.
The concert series will begin on July 8 at Music Museum with her stellar guest performers Ima Castro, Dianne dela Fuente, MMJ Magno, MissTres, and JMRTN of REtroSPECT. Visit 6ckets visit www.6cketworld.com.ph for more details.
