Mega Prime Foods Inc. on Wednesday opened a P1-billion manufacturing plant in Batangas province in line with the company’s goal to provide Filipinos with high-quality products.
“Once operations of this plant commences, Mega Prime Foods Inc. continues to uphold highest food safety standards in its products with tireless passion for innovation, thus contributing to the consequent growth of the Filipinos at the household, community, and national-levels, making the company a partner of the Filipino in growth and recovery post-pandemic,” said MPFI chief growth and development officer Marvin Tiu Lim.
MPFI, the largest subsidiary of Mega Global Corp., is the company behind Mega Sardines, Mega Tuna, Mega Prime and Primo Sparkling Juice.
Once fully operational, the facility is expected to generate more than 1,000 jobs and livelihood opportunities that would reinvigorate the local community and boost the economy of Batangas, while ensuring food security in the country, according to the company.
No less than President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual attended the inauguration of the facility.
Mega Prime Foods said it invested P1 billion for the construction and development of the plant to ensure food products are in accordance with global specifications.
The company said it is committed to strictly complying with internationally-recognized certifications and standards such as FSSC: 22000, HACCP, EU and HALAL.
MPFI said it would employ the best practices and innovations in the manufacturing and business processes, ensuring that only top-quality products reach the homes of millions of Filipinos who depend on them.
Mega’s newly-built plant features state-of-the-art equipment and facilities and incorporates green features, including a warehouse, a fishmeal plant with a zero-waste system and cold storage facilities that are environment-friendly.
The facility will have an open-plant system that also includes educational and interactive spaces aimed at offering learning opportunities to Filipinos and support local tourism.
The plant will also serve as the technological innovation and R&D hub of Mega Prime Foods where innovations in food manufacturing and best-in-class product expansions will begin.
