Team Blue, made up of Filipino imports composed of Anyang KGC’s Rhenz Abando, Ulsan Hyundai’s RJ Abarrientos, and Daegu KOGAS’ SJ Belangel prevailed over Team White, 13-7, Sunday in a Korea Basketball League 3×3 All-Star game at KT Sonicboom Arena in Suwon.
They played the finals game against Korea’s KGC’s Byeon Junhyeong, Seoul Samsung’s Lee Junghyun, and Seoul SK’s Kim Sunhyung in a contest that lasted only five minutes.
Abando and Abarrientos took charge for the All-Filipino team that took a 7-4 lead.
After that, Belangel beat Kim Seon-hyeong with a euro-step and scored a breakthrough shot before Abando got a pass from Avarientos and made a dunk to move further ahead, 9-4.
Abando then iced the game with a buzzer-beater dunk for a 13-7 count.
Earlier, Abando received a perfect score of 50 points to rule the slam dunk contest.
He was flawless in his executions after Abando unraveled a fold dunk in the first round and executed a windmill dunk in the second round, wowing the audience when he spun around in mid-air.
“I was very nervous before I started, but after winning the championship, I feel like I’ve overcome it, so I feel really good and happy,” said Abando.
