Together with Marco Polo Hotels worldwide, Marco Polo Ortigas Manila honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October (pinktober) with an annual campaign to raise awareness on the impact of breast cancer.
To start with, the five-star hotel is offering special pink-themed items in selected food and beverage establishments: the Pink Highball “mocktail” (Php 420) and Pink Osmanthus Sour cocktail (Php 200), both available in the Connect Lounge (24th floor) and Vu’s Sky Bar and Lounge (45th floor), as well as the Pink Strawberry Entremet cake (Php 1,800) and slice (Php 300), available in Café Pronto (ground floor).
About 20% of the proceeds will be donated to the Akbay Ginhawa Foundation (AGFI), an independent non-profit organization which supports the healthcare mission of The Medical City. Operating on the philosophy of Patient Partnership, The Medical City nurtures a community wherein breast cancer patients and survivors can feel a sense of belongingness, hope, and strength through valuable emotional support and engaging activities.
“This community aims to redirect any fear and doubt that the patients might have towards knowledge, resilience, and even inspiration to find meaning in their breast cancer journey. We are thankful to Marco Polo Ortigas Manila for recognizing and supporting this worthwhile cause through their programs and offers,” said Dr. Beatrice Tiangco, Augusto P. Sarmiento Cancer Institute (APSCI) Director. “We hope that this will encourage more people to take part in uplifting the breast cancer community and even pursue their own screening for any possible detection.”
“Breast Cancer Awareness Month is very important and meaningful to the Marco Polo Hotels group as this provides a wealth of information on breast cancer and opportunities for early diagnosis and treatment,” said Colin Healy, General Manager of Marco Polo Ortigas Manila. “Our global and local hotel initiatives aim to make a substantial impact on raising breast cancer awareness together with our stakeholders, partners, and employees.”
The 45-story hotel is currently lit up pink for the entire month of October to assert its stance. It also served as the venue for The Medical City’s recent “Breast Friends” painting session, wherein breast cancer patients and survivors shared their stories and gave inspirational talks throughout the recreational activity. And later this month, the management team will conduct a Breast Cancer Awareness talk for all its employees as well as its annual company-wide checkup for early detection.
