Reward offered for info on Amansec shooting

Senator Sonny Angara announced on Wednesday that he is offering a P300,000 reward for anyone who can give information that could lead to the arrest of the individuals behind the murder of Dipaculao Vice Mayor Narciso Amansec.

Amansec, who was a former Board Member of Aurora province, was ambushed by still unidentified gunmen on Monday afternoon, along with his wife and driver, at Purok 1, Barangay Dibutunan while on board an SUV.

Angara, who hails from Aurora province, condemned the incident and sent his condolences to the victims’ families.

“I am shocked and heartbroken that such a violent act was committed in my peace-loving home province,” the lawmaker said in a statement.

Angara said Aurora province lost a strong anti-corruption advocate in Amansec’s death and made sure that justice would be served.

“Inaasahan natin na iimbestigahan ng maigi ng kapulisan ang insidenteng ito at maihaharap sa hustisya ang mga salarin sa maagang panahon (We expect that the police will investigate this incident thoroughly and let the culprits face justice as soon as possible),” he added.

Before the incident, Amansec exposed the alleged illegal campaign activities of then Aurora Governor and current Vice Governor Jerry Noveras.

The case is still pending at the provincial prosecutor’s office of Aurora and the Commission on Elections.
