Filipino American cager Jay Washington is taking his act to Japan.
The 40-year-old Washington signed up for a one-season deal with 2021-2022 B.League finalist Ryukyu Golden Kings.
The 6’7” Washington recently left his previous team in the Philippine Basketball Association, the Blackwater Elite.
The 17-year PBA veteran promised to play his best during his time with the Golden Kings.
“I am so excited to be joining your incredible team for this upcoming 2022-2023 season! This was an amazing season, but there are greater goals for us to reach and I am excited to work towards them. Proud to play for such a great organization and look forward to our continued success. I will work hard and give my all for the championship!” said Washington on the Golden Kings’ official page.
Washington has won four PBA championships and two Best Player of the Conference awards. He was named to the Mythical Team thrice.
The Golden Kings are the top seeds in the 2022 B.League playoffs after finishing the elimination round with a 49-7 record. Ryukyu, though, lost to Utsunomiya in the finals, 2-0.
