Senator Imee Marcos on Monday said she wants President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to name those involved in agricultural smuggling which has been destroying the country’s agriculture sector.
She also wants her brother to file charges against corrupt officials in the Bureau of Customs (BOC), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and other agencies.
“As the super-ate, I want Bongbong to be angry. I want him to go wild and name all the agricultural smugglers that are destroying our local agriculture,” she said in an ambush interview before the 19th Congress opened on Monday.
The President sits as the Agriculture secretary.
Marcos also said he wants the President to be mad and truly say that criminals and those who trade in illegal drugs will be arrested. The senator said it is “time” to get angry at what is happening.
“He’s not getting angry. I hope it’s time for him to get mad because it is no longer right Nd it’s much burden to our people,” she said.
She noted that prices have increased, and the fault lies in importers, cartels, and syndicates.
“Can we stop this already?” she asked.
She further stated that corporations that do not pay their excise taxes should also be apprehended.
When questioned about possible counter-SONAs, the senator said his brother is already experienced in dealing with criticism. “As we say in the family, to retaliate is human, to ignore is divine,” she said.
“It’s not ignoring. You will listen to legitimate criticism but if it’s only a troublemaker or you are just being attacked, then you should ignore it,” she added.
