Century Tuna, the leading canned tuna in the Philippines, pulled out all the stops to make Century Tuna Superbods 2022 Finals Night a remarkable event.
From exciting segments that showed off the 32 Superbod finalists’ personalities and fit and healthy bodies, to explosive performances from the night’s very special guests, it’s safe to say that the hottest and sexiest event of the year finished strong.
Held at Harbor Garden Tent, Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, the official venue partner for this year’s competition, the star-studded event once again saw this year’s Century Tuna Superbods headliners, Bea Alonzo and Alden Richards, take center stage as they showed off their moves with an exciting laser dance show. But it didn’t end there as Century Tuna also tapped Kyle Echarri to serenade the audience. Meanwhile, 2020 Superbods winners Samantha Lo and Sam Ajdani made a comeback as they joined the opening performance of the Superbods.
Apart from the awe-inspiring numbers, even this year’s competition consisted of a powerhouse panel of judges led by multi-hyphenate star Anne Curtis, founder and chairwoman of HOPE, Nanette Medved-Po, 2014 Superbods winner and Southeast Asian Games medalist Mauro Lumba, and 2018 Superbods winner and Miss Globe 2021 Maureen Montagne.
Joining them were Greg Banzon, Century Pacific Food Inc. (CPFI) executive vice president and chief operating officer, Carlo Endaya, CPFI vice president and general manager for Tuna Division, and Carol San Pedro, PC&V Communications Inc. president and chief creative officer.
But of course, the main feature of the Finals Night, hosted by Mond Gutierrez, Sam YG, and Gelli Victor, was the 32 finalists who have inspired others with their stories that live out Century Tuna Superbods 2022 “Stay strong to Love strong” campaign message.
The special night witnessed the finalists showcase their fit and healthy bodies through a series of runway walks with three different looks: Street, Swimwear, and Evening Resort Wear. It then led to the highly anticipated segment: the question and answer portion, which featured the Top 16 finalists who made it through to test their wit and personality.
In the female category, the top eight were Christelle Abello, Michelle Arceo, Pearl Gonzales, Julia Mendoza, Kerri Reilly, Selena Reyes, Vienne Shirin, and Kim Velasco.
The top eight male finalists were George Baker, Kirk Bondad, Wani Manotoc, Paul Pedley, Gee Plamenco Jr., Patrick Ramirez, Jaime Santamaria, and Erik Visser.
In the end, Abello and Bondad were declared the grand winners and took home P500,000 each while the two runners-up, Arceo and Plamenco received P200,000 each, tax-free. All four winners will also get a year’s worth of Century Tuna products and other exciting prizes. Images by Ted Pelaez
