SC: Deadline for 2022 Bar applications reset to Aug.15

The Supreme Court has extended the deadline for the submission of applications for the 2022 Bar examinations by one month or until Aug. 15 to give applicants more time to submit their documentary requirements.

In a bulletin, the SC’s Office of the Bar Confidant announced that from the original period of June 13 to July 15, the tribunal extended the deadline for the submission of applications until Aug. 15.

This year’s Bar examinations chair SC Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa said they moved the deadline after they were informed that law schools follow different academic calendars, with some of them closing their academic year later than others, and later than the original application period.

“In order to give all interested law graduates ample time to prepare and submit their documentary requirements, while ensuring that the different offices of the Supreme Court will have enough time to process and verify the adequacy of the application to be received, the application period is hereby extended to Aug. 15. 2022,” Caguioa said.

Caguioa earlier announced that the examinations would take place this November.

“The 2022 Bar examinations will be held in November, barring unforeseen circumstances and contingencies which may necessitate a rescheduling of the same,” he said.

Just like in the 2020/2021 Bar exams, for the 2022 tests the application would still be done through the BAR PLUS platform.

The applicants are required to submit additional documents such as a legible original copy of the applicant’s birth certificate; marriage contract for married female applicants; certificate of completion of all the requirements of the Law degree to be issued by the Law school or university; and Certificate of No Derogatory Record (CNDR) duly signed by the Law dean.

The applicant would also be required to submit an “unretouched” 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 photo with white background, taken not more than six months prior to the submission of the application form, with the handwritten name and signature of the applicant appearing at the bottom of the photo.

The name must be written using the format: surname, given name, middle name, suffix.

They should also submit a testimonial of good moral character executed by two different members of the Philippine Bar who are not related to the applicant by consanguinity or affinity within the fourth civil degree, to be submitted by the applicant before taking the Lawyer’s Oath, should the applicant pass the Bar Examinations.

The SC should also be informed if the applicant has a pending case and/or a decided case.

The Bar application fee is P10,000 and may be paid through the Bar Plus platform.
