The PBA Press Corps holds it traditional Awards Night face-to-face for the first time in three years, staging the event on June 21 at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center.
Nine individual awards will be handed out for those who stood out during the recent Season 46 of the league, including the coveted Coach of the Year plum.
Barangay Ginebra’s Tim Cone and Chot Reyes of TNT Tropang Giga are vying for the highest award given to coaches and named after the late great Virgilio ‘Baby’ Dalupan.
The group of men and women regularly covering the PBA beat last held its awards night in 2019 during the 25th anniversary of the annual event before the global pandemic forced the group to cancel the affair in 2020.
Last year, a special edition of the gala night was held virtually, with Cone being named as Outstanding Coach for winning the Philippine Cup during the league’s lone conference of the 2020 season held for the first time inside a bubble.
Other than the Coach of the Year, awards also to be given are the Executive of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Mr. Quality Minutes, and the Bogs Adornado Comeback Player of the Year.
Completing the list of honorees are the All-Rookie Team, Scoring Champion, and Order of Merit, which is given to the individual who earned the most number of Player of the Week honor handed out by the Press Corps.
