Taking fun to the next level

One thing that kids, and kids at heart, look forward to is spending time in an arcade, where they can enjoy a myriad of fun-filled activities like playing video games, winning prizes, or going on exciting rides to their hearts’ content.

Timezone Philippines adds arcade attractions to its Robinsons Place Manila branch

In the past, arcades and recreational venues were in dimly lit locations, and people used tokens to operate the machines or play games. All these nuances are what Timezone Philippines aims to address.

By locating its branches within malls, Timezone Philippines gives millions of mallgoers from the country access to safe and enjoyable arcade amenities for the whole family to enjoy. Now that the Alert Levels against COVID-19 protocols are laxer, Timezone unveiled its newest branch that boasts of new activities.

“We started going to the big multi-attraction format in 2018…We felt the traditional idea was not bad—having the video games, the ticket games, the prize games were good, but we want to bring more things to it,” said Rafael Prats Jr., Timezone CEO and general manager.

A variety of prizes await those who earn enough tickets from the games

He and his team felt that more attractions encourage more families to drop by Timezone and entice them to stay longer.

Timezone’s first large store in Ayala Malls Feliz at the Pasig-Marikina boundary measures 2,200 square meters. Its newest branch is in Robinsons Place Manila, 2nd Level, Pedro Gil Wing, measures 1,500 square meters and lives up to its promise of bringing more attractions to mallgoers.

One of the features in the new Timezone branch is short-lane bowling, an idea from the Timezone Philippines team that’s undeniably a first in the world. Unlike most malls where recreational activities and arcade games are in different areas, the Timezone branch in Robinsons Place Manila is a one-stop-shop where families can enjoy attractions from both venues.

The short lanes have lighter balls for kids to use

“We brought bowling lanes that are normally 27 meters long and cut them by seven meters to make them shorter. We made the bowling balls the same size as the standard but lighter, and we made sure that people don’t have to change their shoes to play,” Prats said.

He added that most of these modifications were made so kids can participate in these activities without much of a challenge. As a result, the Timezone branch in Robinsons Place Manila made bowling more fun because the shorter lanes and lighter balls allow kids and their families to get more strikes and make more memories together.

Aside from the short-lane bowling alleys, the new and improved Timezone branch also features a 9D ride, billiards, plush singing booths, and a bigger arcade. Timezone Philippines also updated its database so that cardholders can access their rewards in any branch in the country.

Families and mallgoers can also enjoy playing billiards in the new Timezone branch

Prats then teased that this is just the beginning for Timezone Philippines as the public can expect more from them in the future. One of their ongoing developments that will take place soon is the possibility of loading their cards online or via GCash for faster transactions and more playtime.

He assured that as new technology for arcade attractions and recreational activities is developed, Timezone Philippines will also continue to evolve to bring the best for Filipinos.
