This year’s theme, “Makulay na Yamang Dagat,” aims to challenge the creativity of participants from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, and instill the beauty and richness of the Philippine underwater marine habitat. Entries with lewd, political, discriminating and offensive designs or texts will be disqualified.

The boat painting contest is open to water vessels (racing, fishing, recreational, passenger and tourist boats) made of wood, fiberglass or fiber glass encapsulated, and allows the collaboration with an artist or painter in creating and executing the design. Painting should be done by brush, roller and spray via compressor.

Entries must use Pioneer Marine Quick Dry Enamel (PMQDE) and Pearl Glaze as paint or combination of both for the entire boat. PMQDE is a general purpose, high-gloss and quick-drying enamel paint. Pearl Glaze, on the other hand, is a two component, epoxy-based resin. Receipt as proof of purchase must be uploaded and non-compliance will disqualify the entry.

Communities and groups are welcome and encouraged to participate, and may use the group’s name, or a representative, to register. Groups or individuals are allowed a maximum of only 3 entries. Participants can register, upload a maximum of 4 photos per entry, and submit their receipts at microsite.pioneer-adhesives.com.

Submission of entries is only until August 5, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.

This year, the 50 winners stand to win a total of P600,000 in cash and prizes. The overall champion will bring home P70,000 cash, the 2nd Placer gets P60,000, and P50,000 is reserved for the 3rd Placer.

The competition has revitalized interest in boat designing as proven by the growing number of participants. Last year, the contest drew almost a thousand registered participants, with a total 370 participants from different regions making it to the finals. While boatmaking is a highly technical process, Pioneer’s “PINTA NG TIBAY 2022” Pintura Challenge aims to bring out the innate artistry and creativity of Filipino boat makers while imparting the vital message of protecting and preserving the Philippine natural underwater habitat.

Last year’s winner was William Sillar from Masbate, who was declared Overall Champion.
