Zubiri is out of Robredo’s senate slate

Sen. Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri is no longer part of the senatorial slate of Vice President Leni Robredo and Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, the tandem’s camp said Wednesday.

In an ABS-CBN report, Robredo spokesperson Barry Guiterrez said that Zubiri was dropped from the slate because of his “open endorsement of another presidential candidate.”

It can be recalled that before he was removed, Zubiri was a guest candidate of the “Team Robredo-Pangilinan,” and the UniTeam slate of Robredo’s rival, former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Gutierrez, in the ABS-CBN report, further said Zubiri’s “endorsement of another presidential candidate, in contravention of the agreement with all guest candidates, led to this decision.”

The Robredo camp said other members of the Robredo-Pangilinan senate slate include: former Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, Sen. Leila de Lima, lawyer Chel Diokno, Sorsogon Gov. Francis Escudero, Sen. Richard Gordon, Sen. Risa Hontiveros, lawyer Alex Lacson, lawyer and labor leader Sonny Matula, and former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV.

Robredo meanwhile bared plans to hold a “Miting de Avance” in Metro Manila on May 7.

On Facebook Live, she showed where she and her daughters, Aika, Tricia, and Jillian, had been since the start of the campaign season on Feb. 8. She used pink stickers to mark the places she visited as yellow stickers were for her daughters.

“The time is really short. I just hope that there’s one more week,” she said.

She said she is returning to Lanao del Norte, Cagayan de Oro for a grand rally, adding she also wants to visit again Misamis Occidental and Zamboanga del Norte.

“There is still a lot of things to do. (But) Time is not enough,” she said. She would’ve wanted to visit more provinces, such as Pampanga, Pangasinan, Negros, and Cebu.

According to Robredo, her campaign sorties would culminate in a Miting de Avance on May 7.

She went to Bulacan yesterday for “Republika 2.0” with reelectionist Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando.

On April 28, she will be in Quezon, on April 29 in Laguna, on April 30 in Batangas, and on May 1 in Cavite. On May 2, she is scheduled to go the “Solid North” and go to Baguio City.

Robredo has encouraged her supporters and volunteers to persevere in their house-to-house
activities until the end of the campaign period on May 7.

“Reminders, 11 days na lang sipagan natin ang house to house, yung dati nating sinasabi tao sa tao, puso sa puso, lakasan ng loob, kumatok (we have 11 days left, let us persevere and work hard, like what we used to say, person to person, heart to heart, have courage, just knocked on people’s doors),” Robredo told her volunteers during a Facebook Live on Tuesday night.

With barely two weeks remaining before the campaign period ends, Robredo wished they still have more days to be able to visit more places to meet the people. With Rio N. Araja
