Manila mayoralty candidate Alex Lopez participated in the annual mosque cleaning ceremony at the Golden Mosque and Cultural Center at Globo de Oro St. in Quiapo, Manila on Thursday.
Lopez attended the traditional cleaning ceremony in preparation for the month-long Ramadan which starts on Saturday, April 2.
The Philippine Coast Guard spearheaded the activity.
Senator Imee Marcos, elder sister of presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos, also visited the mosque and was warmly welcomed by the leaders of the Muslim Community.
Lopez recalled that the late President Ferdinand Marcos was responsible for the construction of the Grand Mosque.
Lopez vowed to protect the rights of all Manila residents, including those from the Muslim community, and ensure that they will have a dignified job and livelihood.
Last week, Lopez, vice mayoralty candidate Raymond Bagatsing and representatives of the Muslim community in Manila signed an agreement in which they pledged to unite and bring good and inclusive government for the people of Manila.
