On Thursday, the National Unity Party (NUP), described as one of the biggest political parties in the country declared its support for the BBM-Sara Uniteam ticket.

In declaring their support, the NUP’s top leaders said the call of presidential frontrunner Marcos for unity adheres to their party’s primary vision.

To recall, President Rodrigo Duterte’s political party, the PDP-Laban led by Energy Sec. Alfonso Cusi, also earlier announced its endorsement of Marcos’ presidential bid.

The UniTeam was also endorsed by Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL), Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP), and Reform Party (RP).

Also earlier, the three biggest labor groups, including the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP), Labor Party of the Philippines (LPP), and Partido Lakas ng Manggagawang Pilipino (PLMP) also endorsed the UniTeam.

In an online survey, Filipinos in Canada are showing solid support for the candidacy of Marcos, Jr. In the question of the Filipino Portal: “Survey! Sino ang iboboto ng mga nasa Canada?”, Marcos immediately emerged as the runaway winner.

Those who favor Marcos need to choose the heart emoticon, while those who chose Vice President Leni Robredo will use the wow emoji. After three days, ‘likers’ have reached 4,500 respondents. Marcos got 3,700 heart emoji or 82.22 percent; while Robredo Leni has 567 or 12.6 president.

Marcos Jr. meanwhile promised to uplift the lives of fisherfolk by modernizing their fishing vessels and providing them with needed equipment to ensure a higher catch and safer voyage in the sea.

During the SMNI’s ‘Deep Probe’ presidential interview, Marcos Jr. said there is a need for the government to attend the needs of the fishermen because most of them are still stuck with their old boats, many of which have already seen better days.

Marcos said local fishermen must be safe and be assured that they get all the fish they need without intervention from other nations.

“Then of course, patrols kasi maraming nagpo-poach sa atin,” he said.

Marcos highlighted the need of the fishing industry after previous announcement by the government that the country will start importing galunggong from other countries.

As part of the agriculture sector, Marcos said fisherfolks, as well as farmers, must have all new and best techniques and technologies.

ReDuring the SMNI’s debate last month, Marcos also bared his foreign policy on how he will handle the territorial dispute in the West Philippine Sea for Filipino fishermen to be able to go back where they have been fishing for over a hundred years already. With Rey E. Requejo
