Barry Gutierrez, Robredo’s spokesperson, in a GMA News report said “there are groups outside of the campaign who have been continuously working since last year, since the filing of candidacies in October, to still try and bring together candidates from different groups to form a broader alliance, to try to unite them under one tent, in under one banner.”
Robredo earlier tried to unite opposition forces but was unsuccessful. The efforts were meant to have one presidential bet.
Gutierrez further said the vice president is open to “conversations” and to “explore” possibilities. He said a lot can still happen in 45 days.
“These are ongoing efforts and the Vice President has always been very, very clear she’s open to having conversations,” Gutierrez said.
Robredo said she remains “unbothered” by the results of recent presidential surveys, which showed that presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. continues to lead.
Robredo, in an interview during the “Go Negosyo’s Kandidatalks: Negosyo, Trabaho at Kalusugan The Presidentiables” series on Friday, said the elections are decided during the “last two minutes.”
In the “Go Negosyo” show, Robredo recalled that in 2016, she got the number one spot in the surveys a week before election day, adding that the current surveys do not discourage her.
Robredo also dismissed reports that people are paid to join her rallies and that she and her supporters are allied with the communist party.
She particularly stressed that these accusations of being allied with the communist party “were very irresponsible.”
Robredo paid tribute to the commitment and energy of her supporters, saying that the rallies cure her exhaustion from the grueling campaign.
