The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has recognized Taguig City for having one of the highest accomplishment rates among local government units in the COVID-19 vaccination program.
Taguig City Health Office head Dr. Norena Osano received the award during the Safety Seal and Vaccination Certificate ceremony, held at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City on Tuesday.
DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said two years into the COVID-19 pandemic, the winning LGUs have demonstrated synergy with the government’s implementation of various programs. He added that the rest of the LGUs can learn from the winners and implore them to emulate their victory.
“The victory of today’s winners are founded on their cooperation and support to these programs which have changed the landscape of the country’s COVID-19 response. Congratulations on your success and we wish you a role model for other LGUs in the country,” Año said.

“It has always been our health workers who put their health at risk and try their very best to save lives. We thank them for their hard work and sacrifices,” he said.
As of March 21, a total of 832,839 individuals have already been fully vaccinated in Taguig, translating to 94 percent of the Health department’s projected population of the city for 2022.
