Resident Duterte has advised his daughter, Davao City Mayor and vice presidential aspirant Sara Duterte-Carpio, to be “true to the country and work hard for the people.”
A video clip played before television host Willie Revillame serenaded the younger Duterte in an event in Cebu City on Friday evening showed the President addressing his daughter.
“‘Day, be true to your country. Work hard for the people,” the President said.
“The rewards may be… there in heaven. Just keep working. I love you,” he added.
Duterte-Carpio is the running mate of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
She earlier expressed optimism that her father would support her team-up with Marcos but the Chief Executive has not made any endorsement yet in the forthcoming elections.
Meanwhile, Tawi-Tawi Gov. Yshmael “Mang” Sali said the country needed a leader like Duterte-Carpio who “shares and cares” for the Filipino people especially during the pandemic.
“Her sharing and caring nature are needed by the people who have suffered especially during the pandemic,” Sali said.
Sali, who has been a staunch supporter of the younger Duterte long before she launched her vice presidential bid, also maintained a deep connection with her in public service.
In September 2019, the province declared the Davao City mayor as its adopted daughter.
“She is an adopted daughter of Tawi-Tawi, and has shown her affection and concern for Tawi-Tawi way before this 2022 election,” Sali said.
