Samar Gov. Reynolds Michael Tan has guaranteed a 100,000 margin of victory for the UniTeam tandem of presidential candidate former Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) vice presidential bet Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte in his province come May 9.
Tan explained just how expansive the Samarnons’ support for the UniTeam duo is.
“I have expressed that Team Aksyon Padayon, which is the local group of Samar would be supporting both BBM and Sara tandem. Samar has 951 barangays and 80 percent of all barangay chairmen are with us and all of us are expressing support for BBM and Sara,” Tan said at the sidelines of the Lakas-CMD vice presidential bet Sara Duterte’s meet-and-greet with mayors and barangay officials of Samar at The Tent, Manila Hotel.
As for the mayors in the province, the governor said that 19 out of the 21 incumbent mayors are backing Marcos and Duterte.
Asked to explain what he thinks is the reason for the province’s groundswell for the UniTeam, he said it has a lot to do about the people being fed up already with “noisy politicking.”
He also explained the Samarnons regional affinity for Marcos and Duterte even as he said that more than 100,000 support for BBM-Sara tandem is achievable.
Survey firm Pulse Asia Research meanwhile said that the only way for opponents of Marcos, Jr. to catch up is for his poll ratings to plummet dramatically, but the chances of that happening are not very likely or probable.
Pulse Asia has been correctly predicting the outcomes of national elections, especially the presidency since 1992.
In an interview with ANC on Tuesday, Pulse Asia executive director Ana Tabunda refused to categorically declare that the results of the elections are already a foregone conclusion with Marcos as the ultimate victor.
However, she explained that if Marcos’ lead at this point in time was just at around 5 percent, then his opponents would have fair chances of overtaking him.
Unfortunately for his rivals, results of Pulse Asia’s latest Pulso ng Bayan pre-electoral national survey conducted from February 18 to 23, 2022, showed Marcos further solidifying his lead by posting a 60-percent voter preference.
His number is 45 percent higher than his closest rival Leni Robredo, who posted 15 percent followed by Isko Domagoso with 10 percent, Manny Pacquiao with 8 percent, and Ping Lacson with 2 percent.
The Pulse Asia survey also showed Marcos’ continued dominance in all major voting areas, where he even gained more support in most of the locations.
She noted that his lead was “more than double” President Rodrigo Duterte’s lead over his nearest rival in 2016, when he only got 39.4
percent versus Grace Poe’s 21.8 percent in April 2016. With Rey E. Requejo
