Two years ago, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the tourism industry was forced to close down and stop its operations to follow health and safety protocols imposed by the government.
Now that the conditions are slowly improving (and hopefully continue), the tourism industry is re-opening its doors to welcome eager tourists to several key destinations in the Philippines, where they can create new memories with friends, family, and loved ones, as they experience new adventures together.
Here are some tourist spots that should always be on a tourist’s bucket list:
Boracay
After a six-month closure due to overcrowding, the white sandy beaches of Boracay Island in Aklan are now accepting visitors to experience the luxurious and relaxing activities on the island. From comfortable hotels that cater to guests’ whims to delicious food that keep gourmets coming back for more, there’s always something to do or see in Boracay. Adrenaline seekers can also dive into a plethora of activities like jet skiing, scuba diving, paddle boarding, and more. The possibilities are just endless.
Palawan
Famous for its underground rivers and picturesque sceneries, the island of Palawan remains a breathtaking tourist destination in the country. Tourists can go island-hopping or swimming in Palawan’s refreshing waters. They can also take a stroll in some of the island’s well-known parks or visit nature reserves. Even though the Queen City of the South was devastated by Typhoon Odette, it still lives up to its name as a must-see tourism destination. There are also some waterfalls and mountains they can hike for an extra dose of adventure. But aside from the natural wonders of Cebu, the province also boasts of a rich history found in its churches, museums, and other historical sites.
Manila
As the capital of the Philippines, the city of Manila has a lot to be proud of. It has a myriad of attractions that cater to each tourist’s preference. History lovers can visit some popular sites such as Fort Santiago, the National Museum, Rizal Park, and more. Even the public spaces and shopping malls have a lot to offer for tourists who are willing to explore the vast streets of the city.
With the government and the public ready to move forward after more than two years of living in fear, the tourism industry provides a safe space for guests to unwind and experience the true beauty of the country.
