Four candidates dubbed as “seatmates” in the Senate launched a motorcade to advance their political campaigns for the May 9 elections.
Reelectionists Senators Migz Zubiri, Win Gatchalian and Joel Villanueva, and comebacking JV Ejercito, in a bid to gather votes in Mindanao, mounted a three-day motorcade that kicked off in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte on Tuesday, February 15.
The quartet proceeded to Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Sur.
On Wednesday, the motorcade toured Butuan City in Agusan del Norte, and Gingoog City and Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental.
Today, the motorcade will ply the streets of Dipolog and Dapitan cities in Zamboanga del Norte, before going to Oroquieta and Ozamis cities in Misamis Occidental.
The four senatorial aspirants are common candidates of various political parties.
Zubiri, running as an independent candidate, said among his priorities should he win a fresh mandate is the passage of the third coronavirus financial aid or the Bayanihan 3.
“The assistance package would focus on workers hardest hit by the pandemic, including farmers, those in the tourism industry, as well as small businesses,” said Zubiri, who referred to himself as the “Trabahador sa Senado” (The Worker in the Senate).
Gatchalian launched his campaign during the proclamation rally of the BBM-Sara UniTeam at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan last February 8. He vowed to address certain crises caused by the coronavirus pandemic, particularly on education and the economy.
Villanueva, the “TESDAMAN,” said he would continue to pursue his agenda of job creation and strengthen employment security in the country.
Ejercito, who last served in the Senate in 2019, committed to lead the implementation of the Universal Healthcare Law and the promotion of mass transit and infrastructure development.
His current platforms include oversight over on the Universal Healthcare Law implementation and the promotion of mass transit and infrastructure development.
