Kia Philippines reported a 76-percent increase in vehicle sales last year to 3,748 units from 1,659 units in 2020 on strong demand for its subcompact crossover model.
“Our teams are inspired by our refreshed vision to equip Filipinos with everything they need to move towards a brighter, bolder future,” said Kia Philippines president Manny Aligada.
The brand’s substantial growth was fueled by record sales of flagship model Stonic, followed by Soluto and K2500.
Kia Stonic was introduced to the local market in October 2020 and quickly became the top-selling model for the automotive company. Kia Stonic covered 37 percent of total sales.
The model targets the young adults market with its sleek and spacious built. The striking, stylish exterior of the vehicle is accentuated by two-tone body colors and the iconic “tiger nose” grille while its flexible interior can accommodate up to 325 liters of cargo. Its 1.4-liter dual CVVT petrol engine has a maximum power output of 100ps and maximum torque of 132Nm.
Kia Soluto accounted for 21 percent of the company’s total sales, while commercial vehicle K2500 accounted for 17 percent of total sales.
