The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) on Wednesday announced that 43 aspirants are vying for five vacant associate justice posts in the Court of Appeals.
The 7-member JBC concurrently chaired by Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo said it will conduct beginning Jan. 10, 2022, public interviews on the 15 aspirants.
The JBC, which is the constitutional office that accepts, screens, and nominates appointments to the judiciary, explained that the public interviews of the 28 other aspirants are still valid.
The CA magistrates who vacated their posts include Associate Justice Jhosep Y. Lopez who had been appointed to the Supreme Court (SC); Associate Justice Danton Q. Bueser, Edgardo T. Lloren, and Elihu A. Ybanez who had retired; and Associate Justice Franchito N. Diamante who passed away last May 4.
In an announcement, Marife M. Lomibao Cueva, SC’s en banc clerk of court and JBC ex-officio secretary, said to be interviewed on Jan. 10 are Ma. Theresa H. Aban Camannong, Arthur L. Abundiente, Josephine M. Advento, and Allan Edwin P Boncavil.
For interview on Jan. 12 are Lorna Francisca V. Catris Chua Cheng, Gina F. Cenit Escoto, Mercedita G. Dadole Ygnacio, and Olivia V. Escubio Samar.
Jill Rose S. Jaugan Lo, Rogelio G. Largo, John Z. Lee, Victorino O. Maniba Jr. are set for interview on Jan. 14, while Lily Ann V. Marcos Padaen, Ana Marie T. Mas, and Romeo D. Tagra are set for interview on Jan. 17.
