Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology solutions provider announced the winners of the First Huawei Sales Elite Challenge outside China and participated in by students from Ateneo De Manila University, Mapua University, Polytechnic University and University of the Philippines.
From 200 applicants, Huawei got the top 50 students which were arranged into 10 groups. Commercial Bidding was the first challenge for the students with the topic 5G Network Deployment of Carrier S Project.
The 10 groups joined the mock bidding and the top five groups with the highest score proceeded to the next level of the competition, which is the Marketing Practice.
On the second level of the competition, students were able to experience retail marketing. This was held at selected Huawei Concept Stores. Last challenge is the final presentation of the students, with the topic about their experience during the marketing practice.
“This prestigious competition is actually held only in China. And frankly, the Philippines is the first country outside China to host this competition. We are first among 170 country office of Huawei globally to launch the competition,” said Francis Rosario, Deputy HR Director.
The Huawei Sales Elite Challenge aims to enhance the promotion of positions in the sales category, identify and recruit excellent students, and to improve branding.
After the two-day challenge, University of the Philippines Team “GOSAKTO300K” emerged as the top winner, taking home P300,000, a plaque, and certificate.
The team members are Carl Adrian Patco, Anthony Gene Sarino, Andrew Brandon Ong, Isabelle Beatriz Ginez, and Louise Hezekiah Rance.
Second place went to Team Huhuwawei by students from UP and PUP Students namely Anne Sherine Constantino (PUP), Stephen Destura (UP), Jericho Reta (PUP), Ted Angelo (UP) and Jen Givan Turla( PUP). They brought home P150,000, a plaque, and certificate.
Third place was Huawawei Team called the wild car. The team members came from students from the four universities, namely Ateneo, Mapua UP, and PUP. The team members are Wilhelm Noble (PUP), Kimberly Ellice Chua (ADMU), Bridget Noelle Legaspi (UP), Lance Quinto (Mapua) and Ken Harvey Dela Cruz (UP). They won P90,000 pesos, plaque, and certificate.
Aside from the top 3 group awards, 13 individual awards were given to the following students for their exceptional performance during the Commercial Bidding Challenge, namely Janie Eunice Comia (UP), Anne Sherine Constantino (PUP), Stephen Destura (UP), Jen Givan Turla (PUP), Kirsten Rae Hipolito (UP), Nikko Marcelo Palomares (UP), Carl Adrian Patco (UP), Anthony Gene Sarino (UP), Louise Hezekiah Rance (UP), Wilhelm Noble (PUP), Charles Christian Kim Biunas (Ateneo), Tiffany Joy Marie Lim (Ateneo), Renei Katherine Tabucol (Mapua). Each took home Huawei’s latest handset, the Mate 30 pro, and plaque.
Jade Cao, Huawei HR Director, expressed her gratitude to the students: “I want to thank all of you (students) because in three days, you were with Huawei to practice our company’s Vision and Mission, which is Bring Digital to Everyone Person, Home and Organization for a Fully Connected and Intelligent World.”
The Sales Elite Sales Challenge competition is part of Huawei Human Resources Program to identify talented students and contribute to local talent development in the Philippines.
