She was savoring and making the most of the moment, the thrill and excitement of finally heading to the prestigious Miss Universe pageant.
Adopting the official hashtag – #GaziniGanado5 – referring to the possible back-to-back and fifth Miss Universe title for the Philippines, Gazini Christiana Jordi Ganados got a warm send-off Twitter party from friends, relatives and avid supporters at the NAIA Terminal 2 VIP Lounge Tuesday midnight just before she took her flight to Atlanta, USA.
“I can’t thank everyone enough and I am continuously asking for your prayers and support,” she told her fans at VIP lounge of the NAIA.
“I feel excited. My wardrobe is complete, everything has settled down. At first, I was stressed out because I haven’t packed yet. But now, since I know I’m fully set, I can relax and enjoy,” Gazing added.
Looking absolutely beautiful in a blue Filipiniana pantsuit and all-ready for the 10-day hectic Miss Universe schedule, the 23-year-old Cebuana left with some 30 suitcases and boxes packed up the night before under supervision of mentor and Kagandahan Flores head Rodgil Flores and staff including her team from Cebu.
Her competition gowns and national costume are designed and created by Gazini’s favorite Cebu-based Cary Santiago who also made her Bb. Pilipinas winning fuchsia “Phoenix” evening gown. Giving a hint on what her national costume will be, Gazini said it was inspired by the country’s national bird.
“ We have prepared two evening gowns for the pageant’s preliminary round and finals night. As for my natcos [national costume], it is gorgeous… Feeling ko ito ‘yong pinakabonggang natcos that I will ever wear in my whole life and the Philippines will ever see,” she said.
Follow Gazini’s journey in Miss Universe as she vies against some 90 candidates from around the world to become reigning Miss Universe Catriona Gray’s successor.
On winning the crown, which will be a historical back-to-back feat for the Philippines in Miss Universe, Gazini believes that it is not impossible.
“I heard MUO [Miss Universe Organization] is the fairest pageant among all. So, it’s not impossible, if I think the girl is really deserving. I’m not saying I’m that girl but if you really worked hard for it, then no questions, yes,” she said in a previous interview.
Miss Universe finals night is happening at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia on Dec. 8 (Monday morning, Dec. 9, Manila time).
