Tuguegarao—Following the major revamp implemented by the Philippine National Police as a result of the “ninja cops” controversy, Police Brig. Gen. Angelito Casimiro assumed the post as new Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office 2, replacing outgoing regional director PBGen Jose Mario M. Espino.
Hailing from Nueva Vizcaya, Casimiro is the former Director of the PNP Logistics Support Service in Camp Crame, Quezon City, and a proud member of the Philipine Military Academy 1988 “Class Maringal.”
PBGen Gilberto DC Cruz of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations Northern Luzon, administered the assumption of office together with the Deputy Regional Director for Administration, PBGen John Cornelius A.Jambora.
Cruz challenged Casimiro to take charge of the flagship of one of the largest regions in the country.
“It will never be easy, I tell you. But I am confident that you will not be frightened by this responsibility because you are equipped with enough passion and dedication to service,” he said.
Casimiro assured the compliance of the stand-up policies and PNP programs being enforced on all policemen, especially in the intensified campaign against illegal drugs, anti-insurgency drive, and the decisive implementation of the PNP’s Internal Cleansing Program.
“As your newly designated ARD, I cannot do this alone; I need a strong work force to achieve the goals we have. I know that we can all do these if we work hand in hand,” Casimiro said.
“Rest assured that we will work together with whatever happens and I hope that through our combined efforts, we will succeed in our endeavor of serving and protecting our country and its people,” he added.
In his speech during the change of command ceremony, Casimiro said all incumbent police officials in the province will remain in their posts in acting capacity, as they are expected to deliver and attain their respective targets for a month. Otherwise, they will be relieved from their positions.
He stressed the “no take” policy on material or monetary and other forms of bribery (No to Kotong), no use of recovered vehicles, and no use of PNP vehicles without plate numbers or conduction stickers.
He also reminded them of their unauthorized presence in places of ill repute, no playing of golf during weekdays, and the prohibition on going to gambling places, unless conducting operations and other similar activities.
Casimiro urged the 7,836 uniformed and non-uniformed Cagayan Valley cops to work with commitment and realize their goal of serving and protecting the region and its people.
