Carmona—The Manila Cockers Club Inc., the country’s cockfighting industry game changer, will be hosting its biggest circuit derby in a four-month stretch that began September and will end until December, with a whopping total prize of P70 million.
For October, the derbies will be held from October 2 to 10; October 12 to 20; and October 22 to 30. Entries are limited to all local banded stags from local associations with a weight limit of 1,700kgs. to 2,200kgs, applying the same derby format of 3-Stag eliminations and 4-Stag pre-finals and finals. All derbies will have no entry fees and no minimum/maximum bets as well.
The Participating Breeders’ Assistance Fund will increase to P5 million pesos per derby broken down as follows: P2 million for the champion, handler P100,000, gaffer P75,000, finals qualifying bonus P220,000, runner up P270,000, any 6 points P600,000, any 5 points P725,000, pre-finals day 1 P325,000, pre-finals day 2 P325,000 and eliminations P60,000 per day for six days. Additional Breeders Assistance Fund for regular members will also increase to P1 million. A total of P18 million earnings will be awarded for the month.
November derbies will be held on November 2 to 10; November 11 to 19, and November 21 to 29. MCC will only accept national banded stags. Same weight limit and derby format will be followed. MCC will once again increase the PBAF to P5.5 million in preparation for the mega derby in December.
On December 1 to 9, a final 7-Stag Derby will be held for national banded stags. Weight limit, derby format and PBAF will remain the same. However, the ABAF that will be awarded to regular members who will finish the course of the derby will now be increased to P1.5 million.
The final MCC derby for 2019 will be a Mega 10-Stag Breeders Festival with total earnings of P10.5 million (P9M PBAF + Php1.5M ABAF). The event will have six elimination days from December 11 to 16, two semifinals on December 17 and 18, two pre-final days on December 19 and 20 and one finals’ day on December 21.
Derby rules include 3-stag eliminations, 3-stag semis, 4-stag pre-finals and finals; national banded stags; red flag matching; MCC not allowing “no fight rule” unless same owner; and a maximum of two entries per participant. MCC will only accept a maximum of 40 entries per elimination day.
The MCC Mega Derby is open to MCC regular and probationary members only. Participants must join a minimum of six 7-stag derbies from September to December, 2019 to qualify.
