A tribute to teachers

Good as any other time of the year, but particularly after the end of the month-long celebration where we have acclaimed the time and efforts of teachers: Those who nightly prepare lesson plans for the K-12 students and the ones who review their college modules to suit the demands of the times.

We salute the Department of Education, which had coordinated with the National Teachers Day Coordinating Council and the National Teachers Month Coordinating Council which celebrated with appropriate activities National Teachers Month from Sept. 5 to Oct. 5, with the last day as the National Teachers Day and World Teachers Day.

A tribute to teachers

The theme”•Gurong Pilipino: Handa sa Makabagong Pagbabago”•goes right down to the core that shows the challenges that must be addressed by today’s teachers.

The World Teachers Day has been observed the world over since 1994 following the UNESCO Recommendation concerning Teachers”•tireless professionals who have staked much of their talent and time to help mold the young minds of future leaders and useful units of society.

They are the standout beacons in the darkness and bearers of hope that give students courage and strength, a sense of direction and purpose that would help the population become relevant members of society.

But we should never forget the educational diamond, where any student, intending to make a good run through the bases of life, begins to be at bat in the home plate.

We see the parents”•the mother, alternating with the father”•as the first threading machines, the first to give the children, effectively the students in their initial years and even beyond their classroom schedules”• who enlighten, excite, and provoke into eventually beneficial terrains of thoughts the children and the students may go into that they may learn enough to make them valuable citizens.

It is from these first teachers where students have learned the core values of humanism, who have sans doubt given enough for an admittedly unblemished contribution to the future of the students”•leaders or members of their society.

Today we join a grateful generation in acknowledging the teachers: The parents, the siblings, any relative, the parish priest, and those who have humanity in their systems in-side the classrooms.
