NLEX five reacquires Miranda from NorthPort

Looking to shore up its frontcourt, NLEX reacquired bruiser Michael Miranda from NorthPort, while sending away guard Juami Tiongson in return.

In a completed one-on-one trade yesterday, the Road Warriors and the Batang Pier completed the deal and got it approved by the Philippine Basketball Association right away.

Miranda already played for NLEX in 2017-18, but was dealt away last year in a deal that sent Poy Erram to the Road Warriors.

Now, the Road Warriors are looking to depend on Miranda in his second tour of duty with the team as his rugged style inside is expected to fit the system of coach Yeng Guiao.

According to a knowledgeable source, NLEX initially did not want to part ways with Tiongson and was pushing to send over draft picks, but NorthPort was not sold initially.

The Batang Pier wanted Tiongson, who is expected to help fill in the void left by former superstar Stanley Pringle, who was traded early in the Commissioner’s Cup.

Tiongson actually signed a new contract just recently with the Road Warriors.

In an earlier trade, Alaska acquired Maverick Ahamnisi from Rain or Shine for Ping Exciminiano and a 2019 first-round draft pick.
