Massive Isabela cleanup drive vs. dengue set today

Ilagan, Isabela—Isabela Governor Rodolfo “Rodito” T. Albano III has declared today, July 26, as a non-working holiday in the entire province for the conduct of a massive cleanup drive.

Dubbed as “Todas Dengue, Todo Na (Ika-Anim Na Kagat)” the event is a clear-out drive against dengue, strengthening the government effort against mosquito-borne diseases and boosting its continuous, intensified information campaign, Albano said.

The Provincial Health Office reported 15 dengue deaths and 2,398 dengue cases from January to June this year.

Lawyer Noel Manuel Lopez, Provincial Administrator, said the governor is “very much concerned” with the report, citing an increase from the 917 cases for the same period in 2018.

This, Lopez said, compelled the Provincial Government to conduct the one-day cleanup to eliminate the disease and to stop the spread of dengue fever and other mosquito-borne viruses.

Through Executive Order No. 03-19, the Provincial Government of Isabela, in collaboration with all the government agencies in the province, are now ready to participate in the massive provincewide cleanup.

The activity is also in observance of the National Disaster Consciousness Month and in support of the national government’s declaration of the National Dengue Alert.
