The Metro Manila Development Authority has announced the resumption of road works in the metropolis this weekend until dawn Monday.
In its advisory, the MMDA public information office stated that the Office of the Chairman gave the go signal to the Department of Public Works and Highways to resume and conduct road repair activities on major thoroughfares beginning Friday night.
DPWH–National Capital Region chief Ador Canlas said the road works will be carried out at the southbound directions of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue from Roosevelt Avenue to Bansalangin Street, 1st lane from sidewalk; from Magallanes to Baclaran Bus Stop going to Magallanes-Alabang Bus Stop, outer lane; and from Eugenio Lopez Drive to Scout Borromeo (desilting and construction of manhole); and at the northbound direction from before New York Street, 1st lane from sidewalk.
Road repair works will also be undertaken along Circumferential Road 5 (C5), southbound direction fronting SM Aura, 4th lane from median; and at its northbound direction from fronting SM Aura, 4th lane from median.
Other roads to undergo pavement rehabilitation includes Regalado Avenue, from Mindanao Avenue Extension to Quirino Highway, 2nd lane from sidewalk, northbound; Katipunan Avenue, after Quirino Memorial Medical Center, 2nd lane from sidewalk, southbound; Quirino Highway, from Junji Street to Salvia Street, inner lane, eastbound; and General Luis Street, from Oriental Tin to Pascual Road, eastbound.
Motorists are advised to take possible alternate routes due to traffic slowdowns in affected areas.
The government had imposed a policy prohibiting diggings and other road works at daytime.
The ban of road works at daytime came following the MMDA meeting with officials of the departments of Transportation, and Public Works and Highways to further improve the flow of traffic in the National Capital Region.
The government also required contractors to use quick dry cement on the road works to be able to meet the one-day curing period.
