Highlights of Santa Rosa’s 15 years as a City

As the City of Santa Rosa turns 15, indeed, a lot of changes and developments happened. From a rustic town it was before, Santa Rosa is now considered as one of the modern and cosmopolitan cities in the country. It has achieved different feats and milestones that became a part of its wonderful history and fruitful journey, hence, it should also be highlighted and celebrated in this remarkable day of Santa Rosa.

2004

July 10, 2004 – Santa Rosa was officially converted into a City by virtue of Republic Act 9264

2005

Joey Catindig assumed office as acting Mayor on May 2005

Cuartel de Santo Domingo was declared as a National Historical Landmark by the National Historical Institute on July 21, 2005.

The Santa Rosa Business Club was founded

December 6, 2005 – INFOXX, the first call center to rise in Santa Rosa, was founded

2006

Santa Rosa City Expo was launched on 2006 in time with the Sikhayan Festival

March 31, 2006 – The first batch of Santa Rosa Science and Technology High School graduated.

August 23, 2006 – City museum was inaugurated and City plaza was renovated.

2007

Then Vice Mayor Arlene B. Arcillas won the Mayoral election on 2007 and became the first female Mayor of the City of Santa Rosa.

On 2007, the groundbreaking of RDCG Bridge and Diversion Road was conducted

The first graduation ceremony of PUP Santa Rosa happened

City of Santa Rosa hit its 1 billion mark of income.

January 18, 2007 – The Investment Code of the City was launched

2008

On July 31, 2008, the City held its first-ever Business Awards, awarding outstanding partners in business.

Santa Rosa Community Hospital set up its wastewater treatment facility.

2009

March 30, 2009 – The City of Santa Rosa launches its Citizen’s Charter.

The first Sikad-Lakad-Takbo (SILAKBO), a fund-raising activity for the Silang-Santa Rosa Watershed kicked-off

The City of Santa Rosa was awarded the Hall of Fame Award on the Implementation of Pabasa sa Nutrisyon

First Mayor’s Caravan kicked-off on 2009

Free medicines were given during the Mayor’s Caravan on year 2009

2010

Santa Rosa was recognized as the Top Next Wave City in the Philippines by the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) and DOST-ICTO for being the top emerging IT-BPO hub in the Philippines according to talent, infrastructure, business environment and risk management, and cost.

Santa Rosa received the Best City Police Station award given by the Philippine National Police and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

2011

Mayor Arlene received the Seal of Good Housekeeping Award from the DILG

The City was awarded the Seal of Good Housekeeping by the DILG in recognition of its efforts in advancing the principles of accountability and transparency in local governance.

Mayor Arlene Arcillas was given the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award in 2011, the highest award given in the country through the Civil Service Commission and the Office of the President of the Republic.

July 10, 2011 – The City’s Seat of Government was unveiled during the cityhood anniversary.

Environment Code was signed into law on July of 2011.

Mayor Arlene was awarded as the Promising Rotarian of the Year.

2012

The City was recognized as the Best LGU Implementor of RA 9482 known as the Rabies Act

September 12, 2012 – Mayor Arlene B. Arcillas and Mr. Nino Lu, head of City Rescue Unit, was awarded the Bakas Parangal ng Kabayanihan by the NDRRMC

An environmental campaign called Project Clean ALWAYS was launched

2013

Then Santa Rosa Business Awards was re-launch with a new name, Lion Awards for Business

December 6, 2013 – The City received the Green Banner Award from the National Nutrition Council Region IV-A for being the outstanding City on Nutrition Program

Houses in Toyota-City of Santa Rosa-GK Village were initially turned over to family beneficiaries

2014

September 15, 2015 – The City received the ISO 9001:2008 Certification from ISC Global.

The City was among the awardees of the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance.

February 16, 2015 – The new PUP Santa Rosa Building was inaugurated

2016

June 30, 2016 – City of Santa Rosa welcomed new administration headed by then Mayor Dan S. Fernandez.

August 18, 2016 – City of Santa Rosa was hailed as the National Earth Hour Capital by WWF for its pioneering initiatives on climate mitigation and adaptation.
