‘Shopee’ says sorry to clients

Popular online shopping platform Shopee, on Friday, issued a statement of apology to the public and more so to loyal Shopee clients over a meet-and-greet fiasco involving Korean pop idol Blackpink and multitude of Filipino avid fans.

“All of us at Shopee would like to sincerely apologize to users and fans of Shopee and BLACKPINK for the issues involving the Shopee x BLACKPINK meet-and-greet todayin Manila,” the online platform said in a statement.

The site admitted that the event fell short of the high standards that Shopee users and BLACKPINK fans expected.

“Although we took immediate steps as soon as we discovered our errors to ensure the rightful winners of our contest could claim their prizes, we know that the entire process caused confusion, disappointment, and upset for many Shopee users and BLACKPINK fans,” it said.

The shopping site said it continues to reach out to all fans affected by the issue, “and we are also taking steps to ensure that such an incident does not occur again in the future.”

Shopee drew flak when a site-wide promotion promising a meet-and-greet with Blackpink fell trhough tossing huge dissappointment from thousands of fans who spent a required P4,000 in one -time or cumulative spending.

Only 40 qualified promotion registrants will be given tickets for the event.
