Willie Miller hopes to lead Alaska to a second straight win against the San Miguel Beermen in the UNTV Cup PBA Legends Faceoff.

San Miguel and Alaska clash at 12 noon with both teams looking to follow-up their impressive wins in the opener of the month-long tournament which will have the PBA Legends Foundation as its lone beneficiary.

UNTV President and CEO Dr. Daniel Razon said a tax-free P2 million will be given to the foundation in its effort to help former PBA players who are sick and in need of financial help.

With two-time PBA MVP Willie Miller exploding for 29 points, the Alaska Milkmen downed the Gin Kings, 90-83, while the Beermen leaned on a well-balanced attack to trounce the Purefoods Hotdogs, 88-68.

Four-time MVP Alvin Patrimonio needs to flash some of his deadly moves down low if he wants to help the Hotdogs beat the Ginebra Gin Kings in their 1:30 encounter. He was held to just 9 points the last time.

Razon said admission is free.

Out to lead the Gin Kings are Marlou Aquino and Vince Hizon who finished with 24 and 23 points, respectively.

JayJay Helterbrand, who retired from the pro league just two years ago, is expected to make amends after being held to just six points.

Five players produced double-digit scores for the Beermen in the opener with Chris Calaguio and Kiko Adriano tallying 16 and 15 points, respectively, while former MVP winners Allan Caidic and Danny Ildefonso combining for 27 points.

MPBL Commissioner and one-time MVP Kenneth Duremdes hopes to play for the Milkmen as he relishes his projected shootout with Caidic.

“Wala pa sa kondisyon pero try ko makatulung sa team,” said Duremdes.
