An unidentified woman has died after suffering from a single stab wound inside an MRT-3 station in Mandaluyong City Monday, according to the Department of Transportation MRT-3 Facebook page.
Identity of the woman has not been clear, but her body was discovered by a roving MRT guard in the south wing of the MRT Boni station at 2:25 p.m. Monday.
The MRT said in a statement train personnel immediately called for medical assistance but the woman no longer had a heartbeat when the ambulance arrived.
Police, quoting witnesses, said the woman was a beggar, was standing while drinking juice when the suspect, still at large, arrived and suddenly whipped out a weapon that looked like an ice pick or screwdriver.
Police said the woman was in possession of a wallet with several P100 bills.
The suspect has not been identified because, according to the police, the CCTV footage was not clear and only his back was seen.
The police found out that both the victim and the suspect often roamed around the MRT station.
Police are continuing their investigation.
