This time, the team skipper of the University of Santo Tomas Tigresses will be partnering with Far Eastern University spiker Bernadeth Pons when the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour goes on from May 23 to 26 at the sandcourts of White House Beach in Boracay.

Rondina is playing again after leading the Tigresses to a runner-up finish to the Ateneo Lady Eagles in the recent 81st University Athletic Association of the Philippines women’s volleyball finals.

Last year, Rondina saw action with Dzi Gervacio.

“We are excited about the second staging of the FIVB tournament here for the second time. We are seeing familiar faces playing,” said Bea Tan, one of the founders of the Beach Volleyball Republic, which is organizing the four-day spikefest.

Forty-eight teams from countries all over the world are taking part in this event, which will be shown on ABS-CBN S+A.

Three pairs from the Philippines are listed in the men’s division, while five are in the women’s side.

Tan will be paired with Negrense spiker Dij Rodriguez, while UST’s Genese Estaplor and Belove Barbon will team up. Then, there’s Iloilo’s DM Demontano and Jackie Estiquia, along with the Negros tandem of Fiola Ceballos and Patty Orendain.

Pairs from Lithuania, Singapore, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Slovenia, Russia and Israel are also included.

In the men’s division are Cebu bets Jade Becaldo and Mike Abria, teammates Ranran Abdilla and Jesse Lopez, National University’s James Buytrago and UST’s Anthony Arbastro.

Teams from Oman and Sweden are coming, along with those from Australia, Thailand, France, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Russia, Norway, Japan, Ukraine and Chinese-Taipei.

There were 44 teams which came last year when it was hosted at the SM by the Bay.

The winning teams will earn points and will have a chance to be in the FIVB World Tour finals.
