Koko rises in surveys

With the campaign entering its final week, Senate Trade and Commerce Committee Chair Aquilino Pimentel III was one of the Senate race’s biggest gainers, rising three percentage points in the recently published April 28 to May 3 Social Weather Stations survey and solidifying his spot among the 12 candidates likely to win a Senate seat in the May 13 elections.

The results mirror the reelectionist senator’s performance in the latest Pulse Asia survey conducted from April 10 to 14, which had Pimentel rising four spots from the previous poll conducted by Pulse Asia from March 23 to 27, his supporters said.

The senator from Mindanao said on Thursday he welcomed the survey results that showed him “finishing strong” as the campaign winds down.

Pimentel attributed his showing, as well as the positive survey numbers of administration senatorial candidates, to the “overwhelming support for the Duterte government and its programs and policies.”

“They say in campaigns that messaging is crucial, but no message is as powerful as performance,” said the PDP-Laban President.
